The Essure Procedure

Is Permanent Birth Control the Right Decision for You?

If you're interested in an Irving Essure procedure, come talk to the professionals at Boardwalk OB/GYN. We offer this advanced form of birth prevention to our patients who are looking to permanently avoid pregnancy. In the past, women who were looking for permanent birth control solutions would usually opt for some form of a tubal ligation. Though effective, this involved surgery and a few days to a couple weeks of recovery time. Today, the team at Boardwalk OB/GYN is happy to be able to offer Essure, a minimally-invasive procedure that is done right in our office.

The procedure involves placing tiny inserts directly into the fallopian tubes through the cervix. There are no incisions, cauterizing or general anesthesia necessary. During the course of about 3 months, the body will create a natural barrier around the inserts. This will block any sperm from reaching an egg. You'll be required to continue using another birth control method until a confirmation test confirms that your tubes are fully blocked. The entire initial procedure only takes about 15 minutes, and you can walk right out of the office feeling great!

In Irving, the Essure procedure is one of the innovative treatments offered by Boardwalk OB/GYN. We have the answers you need when it comes to the right birth control for you, whether temporary or permanent. Call today to schedule a consultation appointment. Developed, manufactured and marketed by Conceptus Inc., the Essure procedure has been FDA-approved since 2002. It is 99.8% percent effective and is the only birth control method with zero pregnancies.*

Most insurance companies cover the cost of the Essure procedure. However, patients should check with their insurance provider or physician to be certain.
